Best Acoustic Tracks By Chevelle

Chevelle, in total, have amassed exactly twenty five acoustic songs to their name. It's no wonder why fans are so eager and patiently waiting for the Chicago duo to drop a compilation of their best acoustic tracks. Although the band's 2018 effort “12 Bloody Spies: B-sided and Rarities” satisfied this need within us to hear more acoustic work from Pete and Sam, it also catered to the rest of the fandom who love that hard-hitting trademark sound Chevelle have become well-known for.

The journey into acoustic gems began before Chevelle released any albums with demo “Tom” where Pete sings about his cat in the yard and let's not forget that basement performance of “Untitled 1”. The beginning of the final track on the band's debut “Point #1" called “Peer" slowly intriduces itself before the crescendo into a hard rock masterpiece. You can hear their ascent into this more melodic journey on sophomore effort “Wonder What's Next” with tracks like “Closure” and “One Lonely Visitor”. The expanded edition also features an acoustic cover of Sinead O'Connor's “Black Boys On Mopeds”.

Let's not forget Chevelle also covered their own tracks translating the more heavy metal fast paced songs like “Send The Pain Below”, “Vitamin R(Leading Us Along)”, “The Clincher”, “Sleep Apenea” into slower and more introspective numbers anyone can enjoy even if they're not the rock n' roll type, and an acoustic performance of “Revenge” in 2021 seals the deal.

Some of my favorite acoustic Chevelle songs are “Prima Donna”, “Indifference”, “Bend The Bracket” and “One Ocean”. They're all good songs, acoustic or not, but Chevelle just has the magic touch with these four tracks.

Comparing the two acoustic numbers on 2025's “Bright As Blasphemy”, namely “Hallucinations” and “Blood Out In The Fields”, they remind me of “Envy” from 2011's “Hats Off” and “One Ocean” from 2014's “La Gargola”. I don't really have a favorite since I love them both on one album, which is a great way to cut into heavy tracks one after the other.

There are other types of acoustic songs that also involve drum and bass, even electric guitar, for example: “Paint The Seconds” and “Saferwaters” off of 2007's “Vena Sera” and “Punchline” from 2016's “The North Corridor”.

Blast some acoustic Chevelle songs after reading this and enjoy the cozy vibes.
